New flights of airBaltic from Ljubljana Airport to Riga

The Latvian airline airBaltic launched flights from Ljubljana Airport to its home base in Riga, Latvia. The airline will connect Slovenia and Latvia twice weekly, and through its hub at Riga Airport offer a number of onward flights throughout Europe, to the Middle East, North Africa, and the Caucasus region.

The first flight of airBaltic from Riga was welcomed with a water salute and a special event held at Ljubljana Airport together with local stakeholders, passengers, and media representatives. The ceremonial ribbon cutting was done by the State Secretary at the Ministry of Infrastructure, Mr Andrej Rajh, the Managing Director at Fraport Slovenija, dr. Babett Stapel and Mariia Radchenko, Area Sales Manager at Baltic.

The carrier will be offering two weekly flights on this route on Thursdays and Sundays, with departures from Ljubljana Airport at 1:45 PM and arrivals to Riga at 5:00 PM. The flights will be operated by an Airbus A220-300, offering passengers two service classes – Economy and Business Class. Ticket prices are starting from EUR 95 (Economy Class) and EUR 355 (Business Class), available at www.airbaltic.com.

In the summer schedule 22 airlines will be providing 25 flight connections, including to major European and global hubs, ensuring connectivity with the world. Apart from the today established flights to Riga, latest additions to the network of Ljubljana Airport are also flights to Luxembourg and the upcoming ones to Copenhagen, scheduled to start on Monday, April 29th. All three mentioned being introduced also with the help of subsidies allocated by the state to improve air connectivity of Slovenija. In late July, a new connection to Madrid will join the series. The rich offer of Ljubljana Airport will be complemented by charter flights to 57 holiday destinations.
