Luksemburg
Luxembourg is the name of a country and a capital city. With a population of around 600,000, it is one of the smallest countries in Europe, but also one of the most developed economies in the world. It has a rich history, a wonderful mix of cultures, amazing architecture and a rich array of natural wonders. Its small size is its greatest advantage, giving you the opportunity to explore all its glories in a very short space of time.

A boutique country and capital city
Luxembourg is a hidden treasure in the centre of Europe and one that, despite its small size, has an extremely multicultural society, three official languages and two minority communities. The short distances between old forts, castles, three nature parks and numerous other sights means that you can visit (almost) everything in the course of a short visit.
The best place to start your exploration of the city is the old town, which is a Unesco World Heritage Site. The streets in the old quarter are adorned with enchanting old buildings and houses, and there are numerous spectacular bridges to cross as you make your way around the city. Lovers of culture and history should not miss Notre-Dame Cathedral, the Grand Ducal Palace (Palais Grand-Ducal) or the excellent museums.
The capital, Luxembourg, is a city of contrasts, with modern architecture interwoven with ancient historical buildings amidst natural beauty and a rich array of parks.
When in Luxembourg, you should certainly sample some of the local specialities. One of the country’s best-known dishes is ‘judd mat gaardebounen’, which is made from pork in a cream sauce with beans and potatoes. Lovers of fine dining will find plenty to enjoy in a city with so many Michelin-starred restaurants. Treat yourself to a glass of excellent wine or beer. The Moselle wine region, which Luxembourg shares with neighbouring Germany, produces premium quality whites.
